From Chapter B.2 of
From the Eye of Noah

Madison attracted me
because there’s no freeway
cutting through. Madison was built
on the isthmus of two large lakes,
Menona to the south
and Mendota to the north.
Hard to imagine our cities without
colossal concrete divisions.
Have you ever considered
how the world will look
in 200 million years when
the continents have reconvened,
and all our knowledge is useless?
Will our milli-generation’s map
of the world be considered valuable?
Will they look at us
as the founders of knowledge?
Will there still be an us, or will
the closing of the oceanic
barriers finally place us
within arm’s reach of strangling
the life out of each other?
